Behind The Scenes

The Clothes

(Costume Designer)

"What can I say but that this series as always has been enormous fun and a real challenge to get that perfect Footballers' Wives look. We have had enormous support from lots of designers and Neil Cunningham supplied the most fantastic wedding dress for the character of Shannon who has this wonderful fairy tale wedding.

Also Escada, Amanda Wakeley, Eavis and Brown, Hunter and Gatherers, Sybil Stanislaus dressed lots of the wives for this series. All the visible underwear came from Splendour and Janet Reger and the trendy sports wear from USA Pro.

"The jewellery came from the wonderfully inventive Tom McEwan and Boodle and Dunthorne and the fantastic fashion jewellery came from Butler and Wilson.

"Cosmo Jenks who is an extremely talented Milliner created the most fantastic and inspired headwear for our wives so watch out for them.

"For Thailand I dressed Conrad Gates and the Lady boys from a combination of my own designs, which I had made up whilst out in Bangkok and some local designers.

"In this series, the character of Hazel makes a rise in the world when she takes over the club. She has always worn flamboyant clothes from the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier, Moschino, Dolce and Gabbana, Betty Jackson, Amanda Wakeley and of course Zara but in this series she really was a fun character to dress.

"The men's outfitters Burtons have been fantastic as they mimicked their real life support for the English Football team by kitting out all our players with a suit each. So our team really do look just as they should.

"In one of the last episodes Tanya hosts a party. For this I decided to go glam 70s with Zandra Rhodes originals and we had a lot of fun dressing them all.

"Also I can't forget Zara, Topshop, Warehouse and all the other high street shops who yet again played a major yet inexpensive role in the dressing of the wives."
